kid music
Another parenting post! It's a nice break in the midst of teaching classes, writing up classroom observations from thirteen new teaching assistants, trying to keep on top of academic administrative trivia and important matters, planning for the b-day lunch/party, looking for a house, getting ready to be gone for three days next week.
I'm sitting here at my computer humming Chenille Sisters songs that were playing at our house last night--they're great! It's kid music that's not annoying or saccharine. Our kids mostly listen to what we listen to--but they love "Frieda" (really, "Free to be You and Me") and they like this one too--in the car #1 was humming "Teaching Hippopatomi to Fly" tunelessly).
Any kid music you really like?

marsupial sue (john lithgow). His books are fantastic and several of them have accompanying cds. Nick and Brandon still love his books, and marsupial sue has always been a favorite.

sweet honey in the rock's I've got shoes & their other kid CD too... The wiggles are HUGE in mi casa right now... & I found a great compliation CD I'll have to share with you... has Sweet HOney's little red caboose, which is the best!! AND, of course, Sandra Boynton's Philadelphia Chickens rocks my world, and theirs too!
Katie just got "FOLK PLAYGROUND" by Putumayo Kids and we love it.
I am also a big fan of anything Dan Zanes because some of the songs don't actually sound like "kid music"!!

We LOVE Raffi, the wiggles & Charlotte Daimond. It is nice to have kids music that both the kids and parents enjoy.
Sorry I can't add to this lovely discussion. When you have a kid who talks from the moment of consciousness in the morning until the moment of sleep in the evening, there's just no room for music.
Lisa--ha--I can appreciate! Thanks for the suggestions...I must admit I'm not a big Raffi fan, you all--sorry. Sweet Honey I *love*, but our CD must be packed somewhere. Carrie and Paula, thanks for all of the other great tips to follow up on!
